“Gert was born in Germany and spent over 30 years working in Africa and Asia. In 2004, he went to his first Festival and was completely enthralled. He became our most active volunteer, helping out in every department behind the scenes, from set up to scenic and front-of-house. His dedication to the Festival was admirable, and his fantastic charm and larger-than-life demeanor made him a delight to be around.
“Gert, we’ll miss you so much at the Festival this year, and we’ll miss your sensible comments at the Trustees’ meetings.” Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and for all you have done for the Festival.”
