A workplace death is under investigation by Allegheny County Police and they are asking anyone with information on the case to contact their tip line.
The 911 call came in around 10:40 a.m. Monday from Harmar Township: word of a man pinned behind a box trailer, between the trailer and a loading dock at the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) Cheswick sheet plant in the 900 block of Nixon Road.
Allegheny County Police homicide detectives, collision reconstruction unit and crime scene investigators spent several hours there gathering evidence and information.
They released a statement saying the victim, identified Tuesday as 64-year-old Samuel Plaza, was pronounced dead at the scene.
PCA says Plazio was a third-party contractor. PCA makes cardboard boxes and another packaging.
One trucker told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that workers believe the driver and the worker in the loading dock didn’t see each other and Plaza may not have been immediately discovered.
Allegheny County Police are seeking calls to their tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. They’re asking anyone with information to contact them and say callers can be anonymous.
